Would like to see an interview of city council, city officials & local folks as to the continued vacant business buildings downtown; i.e., take for example the empty buildings on both sides of Taco Daddy’s, old bank, bails bond & the dilapidated cafe. Why aren’t these landlords being fined - a blight tax - paid to the city until the places are fixed & businesses inside. Everyone appears fixed on the waterfront, while our actual downtown continues in need of repair. There’s opportunities yet there are many buildings just sitting, why?
I feel quite differently about unhoused vs. gender and social justice issues. I'm VERY interested in finding solutions for the homeless situation, but not being confronted daily with the other issues, (at least not locally), I'm really not interested. I definitely hope this newsletter focused on hyper-local news, not broader cultural/societal issues.
Thanks for your feedback, Tino. To the extent that the newsletter tackles social justice issues around racism, it will be focused in a hyper-local way, such as the ARDPIE task force, diversity initiatives in town and incidents and issues specific to Martinez itself.
Craig: Well, rats. I only just today discovered that this newsletter exists via a random post on the local NextDoor site. Look forward to following!

Neutral. Be even balanced in articles or make it clear it is an opinion piece.
