Plus, MRC Oversight Committee selects consultants to lead investigations into toxic dust release from refinery, discusses computer model on where dust landed and plans for soil sampling
Re: MVSD...sewer thanks for the good coverage. I am wondering how the increases can be collected from residents who haven't a dollar to spare. I realize that standards have to be met for public health reasons and also that hundreds of sanitary districts are likely facing the same $ problems. This is an example of infrastructure investment, and the plan to get the funds from individuals is not sound.
Mark Ross is on the air board at industries’ behest… The concern about gardening soil?? One idea is for the refinery to sponsor the farmers market. Free vegetables for all. This would make up for some of the time speculating and any possible impacts to food from gardening. And even fish consumption from our local waters. As the local waters were impacted from run off.
As to the Plume model from BAAQD, while the Oversight Committee has been waiting for this report for months so we can move along testing by the consultant, for some unknown reason the County agreed that the first presentation of this report would be at a city council meeting, instead of to our committee for review first. I don’t know how an Oversight Committee can be presumed to have effective oversight and input with their hands tied behind their backs, but Martinez residents heard first on Wednesday and Oversight Committee the following day. The oversight committee found issues with the report that could have been made better had we had input ahead of public input etc, but the agency will continue to update their report, hopefully including at least some of the data missing when they partnered with only the county to do it. One thing we need is for residents to mention their street name and post any photos they may have on Facebook page; Mt.View Improvement and Vine Hill Annexation Discussion Group. That is where we want to collect data independently from city residents as well as unincorporated areas so we can attempt a better model and more information. Thank you!
Great reporting! The Sewage companies increase in 2020 needs to be enough increase for at least 5 years. But this increase is highway robbery. What utility doesn’t know they have to replace lines after 100 years! We need to push LAFCO - the most in democratic organization I’ve ever seen- to approve a coordinated melding of Central San and MtView water! Healthcare isn’t based on what individuals can afford alone! It’s what we ALL pay in that gives equal access to the most people! Ps: in 2020 I was the only resident in the room at the meeting! Please show up to this one in person!
