AHS Drama Club performing ‘Our Town’
Alhambra High School Drama Club invites the community to attend performances of its fall play, “Our Town,” from Nov. 1 to 4, in the school’s Performing Arts Building, 150 E St. Presented in three acts titled “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity,” the club’s presentation of the Thornton Wilder classic provides glimpses into life in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, at the turn of the 20th century.
There are 28 actors in the cast. Lead characters and who is playing them include: Emily: Maliyah Aranzamendez; George: Brody Moran; Mr. Webb: Ben Williams; Mrs. Webb: Elena Reeves; Doc Gibbs: Nick Webb; Mrs. Gibbs: Sasha Olson. Stage managers for the show are Ethan Basa, Mars Kersey and Calina Montero.
“The students are very excited about ‘Our Town,’ and are working hard to learn lines and create their characters to tell this beautiful story,” said director Gerry Wiener, who teachers Drama I and II and Musical Theater at the high school.
“They are enjoying rehearsing a play with such a profound life message, and speaking the beautiful lines written by Thornton Wilder in his 1938 Pulitzer Prize winning play,” he added.
Shows are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 1, Thursday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Nov 3, all beginning at 7 p.m., and a matinee on Saturday, Nov. 4, which begins at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, and $10 students and senior citizens. Call AHS at 1-925-335-5810 with any questions.
